TAG Games Licenses Wipeout from Endemol

February 15th, 2010 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Brand Licensing | No Comments »

Tag-games Though Endemol is known for their country-by-country licensing deals, TAG Games has clearly struck gold somewhere as the company is launching Total Wipeout on a large variety of markets.

The company will however be localizing the game depending on the markets where the title will launch. In the UK it will be known as Red Ball Challenge and in France it will be Total Derapage. Besides breaking through the country-by-country licensing models from Endemol, TAG has achieved something else as well. Endemol UK has (or perhaps had) their own iPhone studio for global productions and they don’t seemed to be involved in this deal.

In the past, Endemol used to develop their mobile games in the center of Amsterdam. They sold that unit just before their IPO.

Endemol UK’s Head of Products and Brand Exploitation Jurian van der Meer said: “We’re thrilled to see one of Endemol’s most popular formats break through to iPhone and iPod touch. Red Ball Challenge will deliver hugely entertaining game play, which fans of the TV show can enjoy anywhere.”

Paul Farley, Managing Director of Tag Games, said, “We are very excited to be working with Endemol on this app. The combination of huge obstacles, fast and engaging game-play, great 3D visuals and of course the painful falls will ensure the app will have great appeal to both fans of the TV show and gamers in general.”
