Sina.com has released interesting details forecasting the Chinese mobile games market in 2007. Also in China, huge consolidation is waiting to happen according to a translated view on ZDNet Asia.
The article is primarily focussed at China Mobile’s business and plans for the near future. China mobile has created a turnover of $ 12,5 million in mobile games during Q1 2007. Estimation say that in 2010, China should turnover $ 1,4 billion. For China Mobile, mobile games will be the primary source of content revenue this year.
On China Mobile, the top 20% content providers took up 60% of the revenue, leaving a huge amount of content providers to fight over the remaining 40%. From the amount of content providers that tries to get hold of that remailing 40%, 37% of the content providers generated no revenue. To optimize the way of working, China Mobile will consolidate the number of content providers, leaving only about 20% of their contracts in place. The top 3 content providers to China Mobile where MIG, Sina and SNMOSUN. Mig alone took 10% of the marketshare.
Aspire-Tech, China Mobile’s technology arm, has reported to have finished their work on introducing a multiplayer platform which will launch in Q4 2007. Also, China Mobile has launched a new sales channel dedicated at Symbian based mobile games and for premium mobile games.

I recently did a deal with MTel into 3HK etc on multiple items of content there after my previous partner in China failed to deliver the goods so to speak! – I hope it turns out to be a good deal later in the year for me – it’s a marketplace to be explored for sure.
Adrian, wouldn’t get the aston on order just yet… 3HK revs are seriously seriously low 🙁
