Applications and games for Android might get a serious performance boost later this year as Google has announced to be working on a Dalvik JIT Compiler. This move could boost performance up to 300%.
With a JIT compiler in case, it will mean that Android converts Java into native machine code before execution. By performing this task, the phone has to spend less resources on translating Java code. Next to an increase in performance, it is expected to save the battery drainage as well.
Earlier this week, Myriad announced their Dalvik Turbo compiler that is also speeding up games and apps. Operators and vendors could choose to license that technology for their custom firmware’s, but that could become unlikely by this move from Google.
