It seems the race for Linux on mobile phones has only just started as now also Canonical has joined in to get their Ubuntu distro in the hands of consumers.
Canonical expects to release the first version of their Ubuntu Mobile somewhere in the coming 6 months. The distro will be specially designed for devices that offer only touch screen usage.
Though J2me is not named on the device, 3D gaming does seem to be important to the company. Developers can code in native languages like C, but also Flash is fully supported, making it easy to port games from the web to mobile. All details are listed here.
