Symbian 9.2 Hacked

March 28th, 2008 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: Symbian | No Comments »

S60Certification processes have always been a pain to J2me and Symbian developers alike. A group of hackers have now released a jail-break hack that truly opens up the devices for any software.

The hackers have made their hack work on all S60 3rd edition FP1 devices carrying Symbian 9.2. After applying the hack, the devices will no longer care about certificates.

Though this is all nice and fun, the general consumer will probably not have this hack installed on their phone. So developing mobile games with this hack in mind might not pay off as much as you hope. As rules for linking to illegal content in NL are tight, you have to use Google to obtain the hack.
