Kajsa Lundfall from Visibilly explained that there are a lot of technical obstacles when it comes to LBS gaming. Most of these obstacles are formed by the operators. Visibilly tries to bridge this gap.
The first problem with LBS is that operators lack interest and don’t always provide good data. Next to that, LBS information from one operator is totally different to that of another, which makes LBS without the use of GPS virtually impossible.
Visibilly tries to aggregate this information from several operators. The information is combined in order to be able to generate actual coordinates to use in LBS apps and games based on cell-id’s from the networks. With the lack of GPS support on low-end phones, such technology might be vital for a proper roll-out.
One of the things the company is working on, is the Shulman Show in cooperation with www.1000apor.se. The two brothers behind this blog are tracked along the day by Visibilly and are trying to set up various games, based on where they are. The games should range from the well known Pac-man to treasure hunts where consumers try to find the brothers.
