Activision Acquisition Approved

July 9th, 2008 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Companies & M&A | No Comments »

Activision
With over 90% of the votes, Activision shareholders approved the
acquisition of the company by Vivendi Games to jointly form Activision
Blizzard.

The new name, Activision Blizzard is chosen because of the strength of the brands. If Vivendi Games Mobile will be called Activision Blizzard Games Mobile is unknown yet. It’s also unknown what will happen with the Activision brands which have been used in mobile games by companies like Hands-On.

The new company will be listed in New York and had a turnover of 3.8 billion, which is more then EA had. This means, a new giant has formed and so EA has to really start working to regain their old position.
