Glu has acquired a new Dreamworks license called “Monsters vs. Aliens”. The film, and so the game, reinvents the classic ’50s monster movie into an irreverent modern day action comedy.
“We’re excited to build on our relationship with DreamWorks to bring the mobile game based on this highly-anticipated film to mobile gamers worldwide,” said Jill Braff, senior vice president of global publishing, Glu Mobile. “The movie plot lends itself perfectly for a mobile game, and our production team is working closely with the DreamWorks team to bring the story and monstrously funny characters to mobile.”
The announcement marks the second business collaboration between Glu and DreamWorks. Glu is developing and publishing the mobile game for “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa,” which will launch worldwide in conjunction with the film’s U.S. premiere on November 7, 2008.
“Glu’s demonstrated success as a world-class developer and global publisher make them the ideal partner to bring ‘Monsters vs. Aliens’ to mobile,” said Chris Hewish, Head of Interactive for DreamWorks Animation SKG. “We’re pleased to expand upon our relationship with Glu to create the mobile game based on this valuable property.”
