Motorola seems to have limited their new Backflip phone to only allow apps that have been purchased or downloaded over Android Market. With this move, consumers can no longer shop around.
At this point, it is not clear if the limitation is something Motorola decided itself or if AT&T requested it from the vendor. Motorola did already make two other changes to Android on behalf of AT&T. It exchanged Google as search engine for Yahoo and several paid AT&T apps where added. The blocking of non-android market apps is also active in non-US models of the device.
