Space Monkey, one of Glu's mobile games for iPhoneOS, is available for free to mobile gamers world wide. With this step, Glu has started to explore the world of ad-funded games for the iPhone.
Glu is certainly not the first company to take this step. Yet, it fits nicely into their promises to explore more business models in order to gain profitability.
It seems like the company is not using any of the established platforms like Greystripe. Instead it appears like the company has developed it's own platform. The ad frequency is also up compared to networks like Greystripe. Glu is showing it's ad's on level completion.
Congratulations

News Flash – the “fantastic” news that Glu is now giving away its games for free in the hope of getting advertising money to reach profitability has surprisingly not caused the share price to move above 25 cents.
Maybe the US markets aren’t so dumb after all ?
