In the shadow of the Windows Phone 7 Series new, Microsoft has also released a beta version of Silverlight for Symbian. The Beta is aimed at touchscreen devices like the N97 and 5800 from Nokia.
What is interesting however is that Silverlight for Symbian is not included with the free Silverlight development tools Microsoft made available. In fact, only Expression Blend 2 seems to be able to compose Silverlight content for Symbian (or Visual Web Developer 2008 Express with SP1, or Visual Studio 2008 SP1 with Silverlight Tools for Visual Studio 2008 SP1). So Silverlight on Symbian is running far behind that of Windows Phone which makes porting a possible nightmare.
