Gecko, The Windows Mobile App Store Alternative?

January 5th, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Platforms: Windows Mobile | No Comments »

Gecko
Over at the XDA Developer forums, some members have cooked up an alternative for the Apple App Store. With Gecko, it's much easier for Windows Mobile owners to discover and install new content.

There is one big catch though, there is no business model and no way to bill consumers for downloading your mobile games. This means that the Gecko shop (which is likely to be popular amongst the more nerdy owners) will only house free software for now.

Ah well, that should be no problem for all those that are raising money from ad-funded platforms like Greystripe. So here you go, yet another direct channel which is highly accessible!
