SE’s PlayNow brings Mobile Games to the Shops

January 15th, 2009 by Arjan Olsder Posted in Marketing Strategies | No Comments »

Sonyericsson
In Asia, SonyEricsson has started a new content offensive. The company is selling PlayNow content, including mobile games, directly via a dedicated, automated sales unit called a 'Download Kiosk'.

When consumers want to purchase their content, the only thing they have to do is connect their mobile phone to the sales unit, and select the items they would like to have. For the launch, SE partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment, which provides 25 mobile games.

The units will be filled with 8 new mobile games every month. No doubt this will mean that SE will be sourcing from other companies as well.
