Following a story on Kotaku, Various websites are reporting about Apple's allegedly new return policy that allows mobile gamers to return their license to play within 90 days after purchase.
Needless to say, 90 days is enough to get bored with the average mobile game on the iPhone, so the chance of a mobile game being returned is pretty big.
Next to the drop in revenue due to these returns, developers are responsible for 100% of the refund whereas they receive only 70% upon purchase.
However as PocketGamer found out, this refund policy has always been in the original agreement. This in contradiction to Kotaku, who is claiming that it's a new amendment which has been presented to big developers. On the other hand… those big developers might have had the privilege to have a custom contract with Apple, and so, never had the return policy in there. Not that strange considering that it's a potential loss maker. So Kotaku could be right in the end anyway…
Congratulations
