The guys from IGN Wireless came across Digitial Chocolate’s CEO Trip Hawkins and interviewed him about the importance of the iPhone for the mobile games market as well as for Digital Chocolate itself.
And the importance of the iPhone for Digital Chocolate is a clear fact. Any game concept in consideration needs to be applicable to the iPhone before any of the other devices that the developer supports. This is pretty interesting when you consider that Digital Chocolate wasn’t amongst the first companies that jumped on the platform.
Trip explains that this was a smart move as the fact that a lot of companies started to focus on the iPhone, it allowed more space in the traditional mobile market and as so, for Digital Chocolate to grow in that area.
According to Trip, their presence in the App Store is not going unnoticed. The company has triggered 8 million downloads and with 300.000 user reviews, it’s the most reviewed company in there. Those user reviews are monitored by the company and lead to improvements in the games.
