For those that remember (this goes some time back), OpenMoko was a foundation that aimed at building mobile phones based on open source hardware (and probably software).
The company has bearely announced their first device (the Freerunner) and already it's in financial problems. Their second device (GTA03) will be put on hold for now and half of the staff will be fired.
As the freerunner was primarily aimed at developers, the company will now work at a consumer phone in the hope to get a piece of that market (which is under pressure as well).
