Indeed, Zed is buying Player X. We have been sitting on the story for months (we respect embargo's) and in return where promised to have a 12 hour exclusive on the story.
Yet it seems the Times managed to get hold of the story as well as it reported on it over the past weekend.
The due diligence seems to have taken forever as we already knew about the deal early March. Player X asked us explicitly to hold back the news as writing about it could lead to the deal being blown.
The deal is still not officially signed and the amount is also undisclosed.
