On an average day, Dutch consumers download 40.000 apps from Nokia’s Ovi Store. 90% of the paid apps are charged over the phone bill of the consumer proofing the importance of easy billing in this territory.
The downside to operator billing however is the big percentage operators charge for it resulting in smaller payments toward content developers. The main platform triggering all those downloads is Symbian^3.
In total, Ovi generates 3.5 million downloads a day over 25.000 different apps available. The QT development kit has been downloaded 1.5 million times and 30% of the registered QT developers are based in The Netherlands.
